More about the creative process
What is an Agamograph?
An Agamograph is a form of kinetic art that presents two different images in a single piece, which change depending on the viewer’s angle.
Named after the artist Yaacov Agam, this optical illusion is created by arranging vertical strips of two separate images on a folded surface.
When viewed from the left, one image appears, and from the right, a different image emerges. This dynamic quality reflects change, perception, and movement, making it an engaging and interactive art form.
The Agamograph technique mirrors the core values of Launchpad – bringing together diverse perspectives to build something greater.
Just as different individuals approach challenges from unique viewpoints, this piece visually represents how shifting perspectives can lead to new insights and solutions.
The dual imagery serves as a metaphor for transformation and progress, demonstrating how sustainable innovation relies on collaboration
Different perspectives of Terminal Tomorrow
Left Perspective:
A plane divided into two halves.
One half depicts an old version of a plane in an antiquated world, representing traditional industry and past technological limitations. The other half transitions into a futuristic vision, integrating space-like elements that suggest innovation, sustainability, and the world moving forward with advanced technology.
This is placed on the left-angle view because when you come into Launchpad from the back of the building the airport is situated from that side.
Right Perspective:
A set of hands reaching towards each other, split into two halves.
One hand belongs to the old world, representing tradition and past ways of working, while the other is a futuristic, robotic hand symbolizing innovation, advanced technology, and progress. This imagery captures Launchpad’s core values of collaboration and futuristic thinking.
It also evokes themes from Michelangelo’s iconic Creation of Adam, provoking thoughts on the relationship between humanity, technology, and sustainability, and encouraging reflection on how we shape the future together.
